Everything you want to know about Foundational Day Training Bootcamp

If you're thinking about Bootcamp but still have a few questions, this blog is for you! Here are answers to the questions we hear most often:

What is Bootcamp?

Our Foundational Day Training Bootcamp is like school for your dog.

It's our most immersive training program, with 20 full days of Day Training (every weekday for one month) and 4 private Check-in Lessons with your dog's primary trainer.

What happens at Bootcamp?

One of the biggest challenges with training is getting enough positive practice. Day Training allows us to create those opportunities consistently while our force-free trainers do much of the hands-on training for you.

Your dog isn't spending the day in a free-for-all playgroup with a quick training session mixed in. They're learning alongside a dedicated trainer throughout the day.

During a typical Day Training day, your dog will enjoy:

  • One-on-one with your dog's trainer throughout the day

  • Science-based, force-free training

  • Multiple walks and opportunities to practice real-life skills

  • Structured play with carefully matched friends (when appropriate)

  • Creative enrichment experiences designed to engage all of your dog's senses

Every day is thoughtfully designed to make learning engaging, enriching, and fun. One day your dog might investigate snakeskin during a scent activity, and another day they could enjoy a beach-themed enrichment experience with ocean sounds, tropical treats, and coconut-infused water.

What if my dog is nervous on the first day?

Dogs usually learn quickly that Good Dog is the awesome place to be! But just like people, some dogs need a little extra time to settle in.

We focus on helping your dog feel safe and confident before asking them to learn. That might mean spending extra one-on-one time, enjoying special treats, or simply taking things at their own pace.

If we ever feel that a Day Training environment isn't the right fit for your dog, we'll let you know and help you pivot to a training plan that's a better fit.

What if my dog doesn't like people or other dogs?

Not every dog enjoys meeting new people or playing with other dogs, and that's okay! We tailor each dog's day to their individual needs and comfort level. If your dog has significant reactivity, stranger danger, or confidence-building goals, fill out our service recommendation questionnaire and ask about our specialized programs designed specifically for those challenges.

Will I still be involved?

Absolutely! Bootcamp includes 4 private Check-in Lessons with your dog's primary trainer. You'll also receive daily email updates and videos showing what your dog is working on, so you'll know exactly how to reinforce that progress at home.

Ready to get started? Fill out our bootcamp questionnaire and we'll help you decide if Bootcamp is the right fit for you, your dog, and your training goals! Happy Training!
